----------
I am writing this review as not an act of slander, but from a place of disappointment. My husband and I thought, when we hired co-owner of Inizia Architects, we were making a smart investment into the 100K€ remodel of our home. Unfortunately, a consistent series of disappointments throughout the working relationship, the architect did not give us what we wanted.
I want to note the positive aspect of the architect are the face to face meetings. After those, we would feel confident to keep working with him. But then time and time again, his lack of follow-up, attention to detail and general unavailability added more problems than solutions to our project. Another factor to consider is that his office and network of contractors were far from our home which might explain some of the problems.
I would suggest, if you want to hire the architect, you should ask to specifically talk to us about the disappointing journey we took with him. I’ve summarized below the main issues:
1.General Unavailability.
a.Most times, it took us 3-5 times calling, texting and emailing over the course 1-2 weeks to get a response from the architect
2.That plans were not correct. A few examples:
a.A missing existing skylight
b.A radiator placed where kitchen drawers were to open
c.A new window opening too big in the kitchen resulting in the counter being off-center
d.Incorrect validation of our 7 new doors resulting in a long and expensive process for adaptation
e.Little effort given to the 3D models. We received only a few black and white line drawings. No color, no movement in the space.
3.Contractor Management: We had a difficult time with our contractors, but once we had the final one, the architect provided minimal support to help keep the project on track. An example:
a.After one onsite meeting, the architect sent an action list to our contractor via email but no following up. Then, during that next meeting, the architect made a project timeline in his folder, but never sent it to anyone. That was the last time we had the architect onsite. After that, we started doing our own project management.
I have given this feedback directly to the architect upon early termination of the project. In retrospect, we should have ended it much earlier than we had to avoid the compounding problems and disappointments.
