Interior designers are the empathetic middle ground between person and architecture. We are tasked to construct the middle ground to ensure spaces invoke feeling. Negative or positive, the feeling of a space is purposeful. This is created and curated through a conceptual framework derived from the physical space itself. This framework includes an authentic truth to the client, to the program of the project, to the space it is contained in, and to the designer themselves. What separates us as designers is how we interpret these truths. It is impossible to create a valuable space without listening to the authenticity within it. Whether it is through historical research, statistical analysis, interviews, space mapping, or iterative model making; process becomes as important as the end result. Everything following is about everyday observation; aesthetically and psychologically. Desiring a feeling and invoking a feeling in a space are two separate levels of complexity. I push myself to create spaces that formulate truth through an empathetic understanding.
