I was given an opportunity to work with Scott Murfey on a very unique project in La Jolla, CA I found Scott to be the consummate professional - very smart and always calm under pressure. His unique style and attention to detail was motivating to all the subcontractors. Honest and caring....by far, one of the best builders you could find in southern California.

We bought a 1952 house in November 2013 that needed quite a lot of work. We knew right away that we wanted to hire Murfey Construction to help us with this project. Budget was a concern for us and they moved very quickly, yet carefully and efficiently (we were living in our rental house when we purchased our house so were anxious for the project to get done since we were paying rent and a mortgage). The permitting and planning took a couple of months and Murfey was not only very helpful to us during this process, they helped to expedite the process by recommending a great Designer/Draftsman who wrote up our plans and got them approved in a matter of weeks (Rick Rutstein, Professional Design and Drafting). We were set to start construction Feb. 1, 2014. Russ and his crew involved us in the whole process and were right on time. We 100% trusted them which was so nice and sometimes rare in this profession. They bid each job (electrical, plumbing, etc.), showed us every bid they got back (so we always were aware) and if they knew two companies were equally qualified, would give the job to the most cost effective. They consistently went out of their way to provide not only quality subcontractors, but cost effective ones. What would have possibly taken another construction company 6-12 months to complete, took Murfey construction only 4 months. We mainly worked with Russ Murfey who was always incredibly honest (even through the typical construction "kinks"), reliable, trustworthy and funny to boot! It was beyond a pleasure to work with him. Murfey makes a point of meeting at the house with their clients every single week to answer question, do walk throughs, talk about what's coming next, etc. (on top of always being available via phone call or email). We are extremely happy with our house and would wholeheartedly recommend Murfey Construction!

We recently finished an extensive remodel of our home using Murfey Construction, and could not be more pleased with the results. The Murfey team is professional, creative and collaborative and paid close attention to even the smallest of details. Our project manager kept construction moving in an amazing way. There wasn't a single work day where there weren't multiple subcontractors working in our home, keeping us on time and on budget. Our project included everything from a 2nd floor addition with new bathrooms and bedrooms, to a new deck, new siding & roof and foundation repair. We also updated our kitchen with beautiful results. They worked with our architect and interior designer to create beautiful, innovative solutions for our home that worked within our resources. The toughest thing for a business owner to find is a partner that he likes, trusts and would refer to his private network of family and friends. Murfey construction was all of this to us. We are a small restaurant group (Promiscuous fork, inc.) that was looking for our second location and we were lucky to come across Russ and Scott Murfey. You can trust these guys. Local based builders that do a qualtiy job and are straight shooters. Costs are always a concern and they were sensative to the costs and quality as if it was their own. We recently used Murfey Construction to do an extensive remodel of our kitchen and dining room. Their attention to detail and guidance throughout the process was beyond our expectations. Their on-sight foreman did a superb job of overseeing that all the work was done well. In addition, their team of sub-contractors also believed in high quality work and customer satisfaction. Everyone involved did an excellent job. We have had numerous compliments from family and friends about how nice it looks. Our only regret is that we wished we had done this years ago! They finished the job ahead of schedule, and we even came in a under budget, despite the fact that we also decided to remodel the guest bath after the job started, something which is unheard of when remodeling.
