We couldn't be happier with the home done by Hughes Design. Pamela traveled to Colorado spending a day in the home we were selling and the home we were buying. She determined what we could use and what we would need to purchase. Her choices were spectacular. The new home is perfect. She captured the rustic feeling of Colorado and the old world feeling of the home itself. The quality of every piece is exceptional and extremely unique. Everyone loves our home especially US!

We have worked with hundreds of architects, designers, and craftsman over past 3 decades. Pamela Hughes and Hughes Design Associates stand out as simply one of the very best. Pamela brings level of creativity, attention to detail, and project management skills unmatched in the profession. Yes, she is demanding, but at the same time also a joy to work with. Incredibly engaged every single step of the process, she made complex renovation of historic Georgetown house feel easy. We highly recommend Pamela and her firm as a designer for your next project or a trade partner.

I seldom write reviews; I tend to use pros who are all competent at what they do -- that should be the minimum criterion for hiring. But in Pamela's case, I will make an exception to my review rule. Design is both an art and a science. It requires: (1) an eye that sees things that are not there but could be, AND (2) an impossibly large portfolio of vendors, artists and crafts people who respect one enough to be responsive, AND (3) an obsession with making it all come together irrespective of the vicissitudes that inevitably arise. Many designers have one of these characteristics. A rare few have two of them. Pamela is the only designer I have met in a long lifetime of building and decorating that has all three at a five star level. I came upon Pamela quite by accident -- I was checking out properties to purchase and walked into one that I knew was not suitable by its location but that was so beautiful it stopped me in my tracks. After ferreting out the designer from the real estate folks (who did not want to tell me because they really wanted to sell the place) I have been able to work with Pamela to design both an Aerie in the Sky in NYC and a beachfront paradise in Florida. (If the last couple years' disruptions had not come along, there would be a third...but we will get there.) Both homes are conversation stoppers when people walk in -- not because they are outré (as is some design) but because they are each, in their own way, so harmonious with the surroundings, the space usage, and the general feng shui/beauty they instantly convey. Choosing Pamela was one of the best decisions I have made. I expect you will feel the same.

We retained Pamela and her team at Hughes Design Associates to update and furnish a Bayfront condo on the Gulf Coast of Florida. Project duration was approximately nine months and included some reconstruction of walls, updating of bathrooms and plumbing fixtures, replacement of lighting and floor coverings, and complete refurnishing. The project was planned and carried out in a highly organized manner that met both the schedule and budget goals. Pamela and her team were a pleasure to work with over the entire project. They were responsive and always willing to modify goals to accommodate new requests as the project evolved and took shape. The most important metric is, of course, how the project turned out. On that score it was a complete success and we are very happy with the outcome. We would not hesitate to engage Pamela and Hughes Design for a future project.

We retained Pamela Hughes of Hughes Design Associates for the complete rebuild of our main apartment in the Ritz Beach Residence in Florida and for an updating of our Greenwich CT home and two other apartments. Her work is outstanding. Pamela's style is tasteful and elegant. She and her team are highly organized, very responsive and efficient. We have never had a dispute, financial or otherwise. Her architectural background gives Pamela a highly developed sense of proportion which is a significant addition to her skill set. We have used Hughes Design Associates for six residential projects in five different states over 23 years, and each project has turned out beautifully. We moved to Sarasota when we retired in 2012 and started completely over with our furnishings and décor, moving from very traditional and jewel-tone colors to a transitional style with pale colors in our furniture fabrics. We arrived with most of the new furnishings but needed someone to help us complete our new condo with all the finishing touches. Even though we were not a great big new job, Pamela was willing to work with us to create the perfect effect. She had new rugs and window treatments designed for us, and helped us find the perfect accent pieces to complete our look. She also helped us make decisions about other accessories and art that we selected. We also found her invoice process very transparent so that you know exactly what you are paying for. Now that we are moving to a new condo, we look forward to using her creativity and advice again!

After meeting Pamela while working together on a spectacular waterfront home in Sarasota in 2008 it felt as though it were a natural progression to continue to work with Hughes Design Associates on a substantial number of very special homes ranging from Aspen Colorado to Miami Florida and, it seems, nearly everywhere in between.
