Stephanie McDowell - Designer, Kenwood Kitchens

We worked with Stephanie and Kenwood to fully renovate our kitchen, powder room, and laundry room. Having never previously completed a major home renovation project we had a lot of ideas and questions but needed professional and experienced guidance. Stephanie and Kenwood were excellent to work with! She was responsive, asked thoughtful questions, and was very thorough with her design work. As a result of her attention to detail we are beyond delighted with our renovation and look forward to working with she and Kenwood in the future.

Stephanie did a fantastic job renovating our kitchen. My wife and I had a general concept of what we wanted but needed a professional to bring the design together. Stephanie seamlessly picked up our project where a previous designer had left off and ensured that the renovation was completed on schedule. We especially appreciated her attention to detail and suggestions for selecting cabinets that maximized the kitchen's functionality. The installation was quick, surprisingly painless, and Stephanie stayed in contact throughout the entire process. I can't imagine a nicer kitchen in this space!

In our search for a company to remodel our old master bathroom, we met Stephanie at Kenwood Kitchens and Baths and immediately knew they were the team for us. Stephanie is a masterful designer and took our ideas and developed a design that transformed our aging bath into a beautiful facility worthy of "showroom display." I absolutely LOVE my brand new kitchen that Stephanie helped us design. She was just amazing and "got" me! She was the one that thought up Option #3 and we instantly fell in love with the design. Stephanie was the first person we met at Kenwood Kitchens Columbia, and she did a great job start to finish. She was able to work with our ideas and make them happen in the remodel of a 30 year old kitchen. Stephanie was also very available, and responded to all of our many, many questions along the way. We love the finished product, and have nothing but thanks for Stephanie and her good work.

Stephanie did a fabulous job for us. She was one of three that we "interviewed" and decided to move forward. We signed contracts in early May, and the project started July 2nd. We were provided a calendar and nearly everything went smoothly for an on time completion. The contractors were knowledgeable, friendly, respectful of our home and experts in their field. It's clear these men have been working together for years. Zero complaints with craftmanship. We had one very minor snafu, shared it with Stephanie, and the guy was back the next day to fix it. Our kitchen is stunning. Exactly what we wanted.

Stephanie is an amazing designer. My husband and I had been talking about remodeling our kitchen since we moved into our house 6 years ago. We cook at least 6 nights a week, and it was difficult for us to both be doing something in the kitchen because of how small and cramped it was. My husband and I had a general idea of what we wanted, but we needed a designer to help pull it together for us into a beautiful and function layout. Over the past few years we had consulted with 2 other kitchen designers on a layout and they couldn’t quite get it right. After researching other companies online, I came across Kenwood Kitchens and set up an appointment with Stephanie. She came over to look at our current kitchen layout and I described what we were generally looking for, but also listed a few areas we were struggling to decide on because we couldn’t picture it in our heads. About a week later, Stephanie had drawn up a proposal and both my husband and I agreed that she hit the nail right on on the head. Her proposal came with three design variations that broke out the cost for each one, which was incredibly helpful. Her drawings were very well laid out, and it was easy for us to quickly decide which layout we wanted. She gave us no pressure to sign a contract, and even suggested we could take whatever time we needed to decide (a much different experience from the first company we met with that pressured us to sign immediately after showing us their design). We were so pleased with her proposal that we decided to commit on spot. The process after that was very smooth. Stephanie had broken out the cost in detail for every part of the kitchen, and showed what would add and remove from the overall cost. This included the finish and design we chose for the cabinets, the class of countertop, hardware, tile, etc. It made it easy for us to cut costs in some areas so that we could splurge in others. She would also help give us cost comparisons when we were toying around with different cabinet options (such as installing a wine cabinet above the fridge) that helped us decide whether we were okay with adding that cost or not. She provided samples that she thought we would like based on what we described as our taste, and gave us companies to visit that she or other customers had good experiences with (and we had a similar good experience). Once the work began, the schedule was drawn out very clearly, and they were mostly able to stay on track with just a few variations. They even accommodated a few last minute requests we had, such as helping to level out our uneven floor and pulling up additional floor tile without adding to the cost. When the backsplash tile was installed in a way we did not care for around the window, I emailed Stephanie a picture and asked if it could be addressed, and they had the guy out there within the week to pull it off and reinstall. They finished the project on time and the kitchen looks beautiful and is completely functional. It’s been complete for a few weeks and we absolutely love cooking in it now. My husband and I can both be in there prepping meals (we cook multiple meals on Sunday), and we’re no longer squeezing by each other to get to the sink or stove. I’m the type of person that often has buyers remorse for big purchases, always finding something that I wish I would have done differently. I have not had that feeling at all with this kitchen - it turned out absolutely perfect and my husband and I often comment on how much we love it. Stephanie and the rest of the team were all so pleasant to work with. Mike, the project manager, was awesome - anytime I had a question or request, he was on top of it. Just this last week Stephanie stopped by to take pictures and noticed one of the under cabinet lights was flickering, so Mike came out a few days later to adjust a switch on the outlet. We can’t have asked for a better experience, and if we ever have an opportunity to work with Stephanie and Kenwood Kitchen again, we will.

I selected Kenwood Kitchens to design and renovate my kitchen, based on online reviews. Once I stepped into the showroom and met Stephanie, I felt completely comfortable with letting her handle the design and did not want to look at any other design companies. Stephanie gave me great ideas for making the most space out of my kitchen; I cannot believe how much storage space I now have. The kitchen is beautiful!!!! Stephanie was wonderful to work with, and she was always available to answer questions and make suggestions. The project, which was estimated to take 3 weeks, was done in a little over 2 weeks, and I was completely satisfied with the results.

After 15 years in our home, we finally decided to renovate our kitchen and we were paired with Stephanie as our designer. I couldn't have been happier with the process or the outcome. She was FABULOUS! From picking up on my sense of style and taste, to offering suggestions / work-arounds to achieve my functional desires for the space, to being patient or prompting me when necessary and always responding in the blink of an eye, Stephanie was great to work with. My husband and I chose to use inset cabinets on our island, as we really wanted the piece to achieve a more furniture-like effect. When the we learned that the door style of our perimeter cabinetry could not be used for an inset design, Stephanie "created" a door style for us. She added the Barcelcona applied trim to an inset cabinet door style so that the final effect was a door that was unique, but visually complemented the selection we had made for the rest of the kitchen. Stephanie also worked with Wood-Mode on our behalf to produce a swing-out spice cabinet that was narrower than the company traditionally made, but was essential for one of the ways in which we typically utilized our storage space. Thorough, creative, punctual, sharp and great with follow-through, it truly was a pleasure to go through this process with Stephanie. We made a great team and produced beautiful results! Thank you!
