Tim Bowdin Bespoke Furniture & Cabinets

We commissioned Tim to build us a bespoke floor to ceiling cabinet for our home office. The cabinet comprised a cupboard to store an astronical telescope, two large filing drawers, book shelves and cupboards above. Tim elaborated our initial sketch into fully detailed drawings which we tweaked through discussion and colour selection. The cabinet does everything we wanted and the finish is absolutely superb. Every aspect of working with Tim was brilliant.

Tim built for us a bespoken fitted wardrobe. He advised us and listened to all our ideas and concerns until we had a final project that we loved. He is very nice and a considerate worker, and we had a beautiful and functional wardrobe ready in few days. I really recommend contacting him for your next project.

Tim has just completed another stunning project for us, and we couldn’t be more pleased with it. He has constructed and installed cabinets and shelves to provide storage and display space in the dining room end of our kitchen diner. The brief included making use of and disguising a redundant chimney nook, housing a record player, sound system and LP records and providing a focal point for the room, whilst harmonising with the existing fitted kitchen and loose dining room furniture. Tim has once again demonstrated amazing creativity in the design process, making ingenious use of the space and introducing exciting and unusual materials and finishes. He has worked patiently through numerous iterations of the design, responding calmly to my middle-of-the night panics, and providing drawings, samples and advice whenever needed. His attention to detail during construction and installation has been exemplary and the quality of the end result is remarkable. I would particularly commend his expertise with lighting, which he has used to great effect on both of our projects.

We wanted to give a home to our extensive collection of books by installing shelves at one end of a long straight-through living/dining room. Tim Bowdin’s design and construction of facing floor-to-ceiling bookshelves transformed a rather boring area into a traditional and practical library at the same time as providing a civilised space for wining and dining visitors. Tim worked in partnership with us throughout the project, firming up our requirements, making suggestions and coming up with a spot-on design. The end-product – two plain but perfectly proportioned dark green bookcases set off by oak counters – more than met our expectations. We could not be more thrilled with the shelving unit Tim has made for us. He kept us informed every step of the way and delivered on time. Construction was done with minimal fuss. We cannot recommend Tim highly enough. Thank you Tim for such an enjoyable experience.

Tim has created a stunning study/library for us in what was quite a challenging space, with a complicated roof structure. I can’t recommend him too highly, not just for his meticulous craftsmanship, but also for his architectural knowledge and design skills. I initially had only a rather vague idea of what we needed and wanted, but after being encouraged by Tim to think about it in much more detail, he ended up with a very ambitious brief. This included such helpful specifications as, “needs a wow factor”, “must be symmetrical across the corner” and “we need some diagonal lines”. Tim responded with a wholly original and beautiful design, which included cupboards, shelves, drawers and desks as well as the desired diagonals. He built the main elements in his workshop before starting the process of installation, which took several weeks, but caused us very little inconvenience. The quality of Tim’s work is superb and the finished product complements the shape of the room and the design of the house perfectly. The result is a calm and productive working space, and everyone who has seen it has said, “Wow!”

Absolutely thrilled from start to finish. Tim took time to go through the design considerations, offered helpful suggestions and drew up lots of different options. As a result I ended up with the perfect cabinet that has transformed our living room from a rather dull rectangle into a wonderfully welcoming reception room. Our large tv and media unit with glass fronted display cabinets either side is a one off piece of wonderful skill and carpentry. Tim convinced me to go with a wonderful duo of a dark blue and pale grey combo using Farrow and Ball. I needn’t have worried, the end result is nothing short of spectacular and I’m so glad I didn’t go for the safe option of white! Our new cabinet is a work of art and has surpassed our expectations. Tim is at the top of his game and does a wonderful job.

Tim did an outstanding job of the fitted wardrobes in our third floor bedroom. They look beautiful and have transformed what was an awkward space in an unusual shaped room into a highly functional unit. The design and finish are excellent quality, we are really pleased with it all. We are absolutely, totally delighted with the fitted cupboards/ bookcases that Tim built into our dining room. The build quality and finish are outstanding. Not only do they look amazing, their design – courtesy of Tim - has given what was a fairly unremarkable room a really lovely, warm and elegant vibe. Tim was a pleasure to work with right from the start when I sent my first tentative email about our project. He took the time to really understand what we wanted to achieve and presented us with clear options on every aspect of the units and how they interfaced with the existing structures in the house (in our case, wooden ceiling beams, boxed in pipework and uneven floors and walls). He suggested lighting the bookcase parts of both units and the result is superb. Once we had finalized the design with Tim, we felt confident that we could simply leave the project with him, and we were right. All in all, an excellent result, excellent experience and I would recommend Tim to anyone.

Tim designed and built some beautiful fitted wardrobes for us. I had a fairly good idea of what I wanted and Tim took the time to fully understand what that was and made some recommendations/adjustments to help keep to budget. What Tim has delivered is exactly what we wanted. They are beautiful and will last for many years and we could not be more delighted and I suspect we will love them as much in 10 years as we do today. In addition to quality craftsmanship his communication in terms of progress and timescale was excellent and it was a pleasure to work with him. I would definitely recommend.

I can't speak highly enough of Tim! He has just finished and delivered our kitchen island on wheels. Because of our requirement to have the island on wheels, there were quite a few technical aspects (the main one being stability!) which we hadn't considered if Tim hadn't pointed them out. The weight of the solid oak top, plus the necessary overhang to allow for sitting, and the wheels made for some design challenges but Tim took it all in his stride, and went above and beyond (particularly when it came to the colour of the top) to ensure we were happy with everything. He kept us posted throughout the whole process, came up with alternatives and in short was just a joy to work with. Please don't hesitate to consider Tim for your project - I promise you won't regret it!
