Featured Reviews for Austin, TX Architects and Building Designers

McKinney York Architects
Austin, TX Architects and Building Designers
1 December 2012
I have worked with Heather McKinney on the following projects: Canyon House , Austin, Texas 1984, a residence on Salt Spring Island, British Columbia 2003 twice on a Ranch House in Stephenville, Texas 2008 and earlier, referred her firm McKinney York to a client in San Antonio, Texas and worked on this new residence in Shavano Park 2006. This year I was referred by this firm to an Austin client to arrange furniture and bring in an picture hanging consultant.I was most impressed with the spaces, materials, and lighting in this remodel. McKinney York Artachitects pays great attention to detail, and has the highest level of expertise in green and sustainable design. The principals and staff are even tempered and good natured. I refer McKinney York to clients because the designs will be innovative, the overall cost will be within the client's budget, and because they work extremely well with the contractors and the consultants. The design awards bestowed upon this firm reflect a union of client's program, budget, taste, consultants and extremely talented architects.
MF Architecture
Austin, TX Architects and Building Designers
8 February 2015
MF Architecture is a full service architectural firm. One of the unique aspects of this firm is the owner, Matt Fajkus, is also a professor at the University of Texas. As a result, the firm has access to the very best talent. My wife and I were quickly impressed with the members of the firm. They are sharp, responsive, meticulous, and most of all work very well with people. The team is diverse and cater to everything Austin has to offer. We are currently in the middle of a smaller project approximately $250k. We are looking forward to not only completing our project, but maintaining a long-term relationship and going forward referring our friends and family. I am very grateful for being introduced to MF Architecture.
Cornerstone Architects
Austin, TX Architects and Building Designers
11 September 2012
I have worked with Cornerstone Group on several occasions. I have found them to be very creative while remaining true to their customer's goals and desires. They also hit their time commitments which really helps with keeping the project on track. I would definitely recommend their services.
Plural Office Architects
Austin, TX Architects and Building Designers
15 April 2020
Plural Office is an exceptionally creative group that was able to come up with multiple options for our backyard project. They paid detailed attention to our needs and patiently worked with us through the design process. We look forward to having construction begin on the project they designed for us and will hire them again for remodeling work.
Barley|Pfeiffer Architecture
Austin, TX Architects and Building Designers
20 February 2013
We came to Barley & Pfeiffer after exploring a lot of options for our old but not-distinctive house. We were impressed with the way Peter Pfeiffer's house, which we saw on a home tour, embodied sustainable building practices without looking funky. We wanted a project that would incorporate the details that we loved from our old house with smart, energy efficient construction and a contemporary layout suitable for our growing family. We found that Barley & Pfeiffer as a firm provided all the skills we needed to come out at the end with the house we wanted. Alan's design skills, Peter's building science knowledge, and Scott's detailed project management work all combined to give us a beautiful house that works really well for our family, has very low maintenance requirements, and consumes dramatically less energy than most other houses, both of a similar size and much smaller. The money we have not spent on heating and cooling this house in the past seven years could well pay for a new car. If you are going to spend the money to substantially renovate an existing home or build a new home, think carefully about what it will cost to maintain what you end up with. "Green building" is a trend now and many builders and architects claim to be "green," but few firms have the depth of expertise and years of dedication to sustainable building that Barley & Pfeiffer can provide. What you spend up front on excellent design and construction management will be recouped many times over in savings on the cost of living and maintenance. We enjoyed working with Barely & Pfeiffer and would choose them again.
Black + Vernooy Architects
Austin, TX Architects and Building Designers
20 February 2014
Black and Vernooy designed our wonderful lake house. They really listened when we described what we wanted i.e., low maintenance, save trees, indoor/outdoor ambiance. Their plan was innovative and beautiful, mirroring our desires and budget. The firm worked diligently with the builder and when the house was completed, Sinclair Black, the entire group and especially Stephi Motal exceeded our expectations.
Nix Group Architects
Austin, TX Architects and Building Designers
9 August 2017
When my husband and I took on a major remodel of our mid century home we interviewed several architects. It was clear from the beginning Jim was the right choice. He asked detailed questions about our lifestyle and our aesthetic preferences, listened carefully and took every detail into account when designing our dream home. The result was an artistic, well functioning design that appeared twice as large without changing the original footprint of the house. Jim was very cost conscious and researched every aspect to help keep us within budget. He worked with the contractor throughout the project making sure the plans were precisely implemented and came up with creative solutions for any unexpected challenges. I could go on with more praises for Jim but probably the best recommendation would be to say without any question we would use him again.
Venture Four Architects
Austin, TX Architects and Building Designers
22 February 2015
I recently hired Venture Four Architects and Ken Smith on the recommendation of my builder, Ron McGuire. I cannot say enough good things about Ken, his excellent design for our guest house, the firm and their stellar handling of our project from start to finish. They are incredible architects and produced our design plans within weeks (rather than the standard months that most firms take) for a price that my husband and I felt was extremely reasonable. I would recommend Ken Smith and Venture Four Architects to anyone looking for a professional, reliable architect who listens to the client and then helps create the desired design on time and within budget. Five stars!
StudioMET Architects
Austin, TX Architects and Building Designers
16 September 2014
StudioMET designed and built our house. They are very talented and creative. The building process was a collaboration between us. I would highly recommend them to anyone. All calls, texts, and questions during the building process were promptly answered. I can't say enough about how happy we are with the end product.
Paula Ables Interiors
Austin, TX Architects and Building Designers
26 January 2013
In 2011, I bought a new construction condo. With the exception of the stove/oven, dishwasher, and water heater, there were no other appliances or furniture. I travel often and never have 4-6 weeks in a row at home - the usual time frame for ordering/receiving furniture. Paula Ables Interiors had done the models for the condo sales office and I love her style. I contacted her, agreed to a budget, and gave her the key. Over a period of a couple of months - this was my time frame - she and her staff did everything from furniture and appliances to hanging (my) art on the walls and painting. At the end, I came home from a long trip and went to my new place for the first time. I was amazed. Everything was in place and looked fantastic. I couldn't be happier and haven't stopped recommending her to my family and friends. The most amazing thing is she actually listens to you, understands you personal style and preferences, and works her magic to produce a wonderful, practical, and liveable home. Over a year later, the design she made for me still works and is easy to maintain as 'showroom' stylish as when she completed it. That is an incredible feat. I continue to use her for any design project I have and am never disappointed. Couldn't be happier!
