About Us

IX Architects Pte Ltd (IXA) is a corporatized architectural practice registered with the Board of Architects, Singapore. IXA is also listed under the panel of Consultant for Public Sector projects with the Building and Construction Authority. From its humble beginnings in 2004, it has expanded to a mid size practice with 15 associates and staff. IX Architects Pte Ltd excels on providing professional architectural services with personalized, quality touches. The IXA's achievement of the International Standards Organization (ISO) - ISO9001 and ISO14001 accreditation in 2011 further cement our commitment to quality services. We strive to design and deliver high standard and creative works that are responsive to client's needs and budget.

Professional Information

Chu Yang Keng is the founding principal of IX Architects and an award-winning registered architect with the Board of Architects Singapore. Since graduating from the National University of Singapore with a Masters in Architecture, he has worked with distinguished local firms such as DP Architects Pte Ltd before establishing IX Architects in 2004. Chu has always been venturing the region exploring context and culture, extracting lessons learnt and instilling them into IXA's projects. The winning of various designs awards both locally and internationally has strengthened his design passion and upheld the ethics and conduct of the professional practice. Chu is a nurturing guide and emphasizes on competency and personal development of IXA personnel. Under his dedicated tutelage, sharing of knowledge and organizing training sessions form an important office culture to inspire the entire team to be proficient and creative professionals.

My family engaged IX Architects to reconstruct our semi-detached house. Our old house was dark and closed. We told IX that we wanted a long line of sight to the house and a skylight/well amongst other requests. IX delivered. The long line of sight gives the house an open and wide feel. The skylight in the middle of the house allowed light into the dark areas and brightened up the home. In addition, IX designed the house such that the 2 blocks of living spaces gives the distinct feel of separation of areas and privacy which we like a lot. The only complaint we have is the sizes of the two bedrooms which are too small. We expected them to be as big as our old bedrooms. We were unable to gauge from the 3D visual of the bedroom sizes as we have to see the actual physical layout to be able to know the size. Unfortunately a physical mock up of the actual size is out of the question. Overall, we like the design that IX has come up with. Our house is much brighter and we are able to see greenery from almost anywhere in the home.
