Hundred Mile House
Average rating: 5 out of 5 stars23 September 2026
“We’ve been working with Duane at Hundred Mile House on the renovation of our midcentury home in Palm Springs. From the beginning, Duane has had a really thoughtful approach to the house and a strong understanding of what makes the original architecture special. We wanted to modernize the home and make some fairly significant changes, while still keeping it connected to its Palm Springs character. Duane has been great at balancing those two goals. He has a strong design eye, pays attention to the details, and has helped us think through everything from the larger architectural decisions to materials and finishes. He’s also been patient as the scope and some of our ideas have evolved throughout the process, which we really appreciate. Renovating a home involves a lot of decisions, and it has been reassuring having someone who understands both the design intent and the practical side of bringing it together. We’re excited to see the project continue to take shape and are very happy with the direction of the renovation.”
Wolfgang Pichler Design Inc.
Average rating: 5 out of 5 stars22 February 2023
“What can I say! Working with Wolfgang and Connie was extremely pleasant and simple. Wolfgang designed our home with an aesthetic vision that I could have never imagined on my own. It’s clear that his goal was to go above and beyond our wildest dreams. Which he did. Then he supervised the project to the finish; managing permits, inspections, contractors, expenses, etc. in an extremely organized way; and with frequent updates. Having worked with other designers in the past, sometimes weeks or months would go by with no information and that can be frustrating. While our home was being built, Connie began imagining and mood boarding for interior decorating. Connie has incredible taste and could envision the mood we wanted so perfectly. And she stayed under budget! She also collaborated with me and was patient as well as decisive when I wasn’t. All in all, our home turned out better than we could have ever imagined. 5 stars! Best Designers I have ever worked with.”
Elliott F. Brainard Architecture

“Elliott Brainard is an exceptional Architect for Mountain Building specifically! He was an integral player in the design of our 4,300 sq ft. custom home in Mammoth Lakes, CA. He not only Listened to our wishes for building our Dream Home but was on top of and helped us thru the layout to maximize our Views. He explained all points of building in the mountains including "Snow Load, Earthquake codes, City codes, where to cut costs as needed - etc. He was always Available - complete with building a model to scale for our review. We would Highly Recommend him for anyone doing a New Build or Remodel !!!”
