DESIGN INTERVENTION

It’s hard to put into words how unbelievably impressed and happy we are with the guidance, service and suggestions we received from Design Intervention during the process to redecorate the interior and alfresco area of our home. Andrea provided us with mood boards and options which perfectly fitted our brief, and we cannot praise DI or recommend their services and skill more. It is thrilling living in our home- thank you so much for this gift!

Nikki and Christina worked on the major renovation of our resale condo and transformed it into a tasteful, comfortable and functional space. We had been long yearning a unique interior design for our new home, which has to be different from the typical home design, most importantly it has to realize and reflect our individual lifestyle which we so desire. It's for this same passion and personal indulgence I believe, which attract us to Design Intervention, we were very much impressed by most of their design ideas, home styling, quality works and especially their signature series be-spoke furniture. Special thanks to Ms Andrea, who will always offer many valuable & professional advices which give us a peace of mind and make the entire renovation process seems like 'sea of breeze' with her calm and cheerful deposition. Moreover, her design ideas, choice of colour, furniture and soft furnishing is always on point and we like it very much. Special thanks to Ms Paola, for her attentiveness and exemplary efforts to ensure timely completion and quality of works delivered. We are also thankful for her patience and accomodating manner in handling demanding and meticulous customers like us. We are very thankful that we engaged Design Intervention to give us this classic design for our new home, which I believe we'll enjoy living in it for many years to come!

We engaged Andrea and Christina on our 4BR home renovation, including overall project management, evaluation and replacement of plumbing, lighting, etc. (the place was > 10 years old), design and production of custom made furniture. The entire process from start (conception) to finish (move in!) took 4 months. We appreciated their creativity and professionalism, their ability to enhance and implement ideas, attention to detail, willingness to work with our budget and preferences (which involved catering to a multi-generational family), and flexibility in answering questions and accommodating changes. Having tried to manage previous home projects on my own, I was really thankful for their regular updates that freed me to focus on what was important. As our kid says - "I love our new place 1,000,000x better!" Thanks, Design Intervention. Wouldn't have done it any other way.

Second time using Wendy at Design Intervention, this time for a complete refurnishing, minor kitchen remodel and overall design. As before, extremely satisfied with the work - from concept (where Wendy listened carefully to what we wanted), to implementation (where DI took care to stick to the agreed concept) to delivery and installation (where every piece of furniture, carpeting and work was inspected prior to delivery (or after completion for the carpentry work)). If anything wasn't perfect, it was sent back to be fixed without us even asking. This is as smooth a renovation as one could hope for and we love our new home.

We hired Wendy Smith at Design Intervention in November 2014 to undertake a near-full renovation of our newly purchased apartment at Sentosa Cove. We are expats and have lived abroad and moved around for 17 years. We decided a year ago to buy an apartment and make Singapore our permanent home for the next 10 years to see our girls through to University. Our new apartment is thus to be our permanent family home. It nonetheless required major renovation or gutting of nearly every room and space to make it truly 'ours'. Our design goal was to create a comfortable and approachable family space while retaining a bit of 'posh'. Our specific requirements included: - furnishings that could cope with outdoor/seaside living (hardiness) - built-in furniture wherever possible to maximise floor space (which necessitated getting rid of nearly 90% of our existing furniture) - preserving as much of the original fittings and fixtures as necessary and appropriate (e.g., blending existing tiles/cupboards/bathrooms/lighting with new) - our family (2 adults, 2 kids, 2 dogs, 1 maid) living in the apartment during renovations (renovation in stages) This is our third renovation project (in two countries, and our second in Singapore) so we came to DI with definite ideas, a projected budget, and a no-nonsense approach. Wendy has been superb to work with because she listens and is an excellent communicator. Many times we would describe (sometimes vaguely) what we were after and she would magically come back to us with design ideas that were nearly always exactly what we had in mind, while also meeting our criteria. We've been working with Wendy now for over a year and it didn't take her long to figure out our personalities and quirks to then suggest design and space ideas, furnishings, fabrics and other decorating ideas to suit our lifestyle. Wendy is super calm and wonderfully creative. She is excellent with details and turns 'problems' into solutions very quickly. We've taken her on shopping trips to stores we liked for sofas and coffee tables, presented her with piles of magazine clippings to discuss new ideas, and texted her photos from furniture or framing stores when we've found something that 'might work'. Wendy is a true collaborator! Wendy's greatest strength, by far, is the fantastic relationship she has with suppliers and contractors to deliver build on time and to solve problems as they arise - without involving us. Having renovated before, we know how badly things can go wrong when contractors muck up, get lazy or don’t turn up. Thus, from firsthand experience, we know that 'good contractors' are the backbone of any renovation project. On this, Wendy is an EXCELLENT project manager. It is clear she values contractor relationships and that the local Singaporean and Malay contractors, in turn, respect her; the quality of workmanship has been excellent and the tradesmen have been minimally intrusive throughout the build given that we have remained living in the apartment during the renovation. We are not quite finished yet (one month to go!) but so far the outcome has exceeded all our expectations. We LOVE living here, it is starting to feel like 'home' (at last), and we haven't killed each other from the stress of living through it. Wendy has been with us every step of the way, cheering us on when we felt like the dust and dirt was overwhelming, and celebrating small wins when we found the 'perfect sofa' or re-invented an old dining table into something fantastically posh and 'new'. Would we use DI again? Absolutely. In a heartbeat. No doubt in my mind. DI has been worth every cent.

I cannot praise enough both the creativity and professionalism of Design Intervention and Wendy Smith. I had asked for their help to do all the interiors for an 1800 square foot apartment in the center of Singapore. I started out in the process, with probably a level of naivety on what I wanted/needed and what could be achieved. Wendy helped develop my aesthetic through her continuous creative suggestions, and her level of service and professionalism was second to none. Not only did she take the time to genuinely understand my lifestyle and what I needed, but she also encouraged me to try new and different things. I trusted her completely. My home for the first time in my life became an oasis for me. The joy of coming home to this amazing living space, took away the stresses of work and daily life. I am indebted to Wendy for making a desired lifestyle a reality!
