I first came across TMS when I was finding ID to do renovation for my house. After looking through their portfolios, the designs left an impression in my mind. As my husband and I have the intention to renovate our house with the Scandinavian/Minimalist look, we felt that TMS fits what we have in mind. During our first appointment with them, the TMS team listened to our ideas and gave us some suggestions to think about. We felt comfortable with their ideas and working style and decided to go ahead and engaged them as our ID. After engaging them, TMS was always patient in answering our concerns and they were also open to feedback/ideas that we have along the way. Although we did our renovation during the post CB period where there were a lot of restrictions in place, TMS kept us updated of the progress and managed to finish the work in the time frame promised. It has been a pleasant renovation journey with TMS.

Excellent work and service. We 'clicked' with their design and work philosophy from the beginning. TMS is not your run-of-the-mill interior designer who simply follow your every whim. They will give honest feedback, and provide suggestions on improving your house. The result is a beautiful, warm and cozy home.
That being said, there are several hiccups in the project. But they are minor, and handled professionally, and in the end, project is completed on time. Cost wise, they are not the cheapest, but not expensive as well.
In summary, we had a very pleasant experience working with them, resulting in having our dream home. Thumbs up for the team!

We are happy that we engaged TMS because our renovation was able to meet deadline and the quality of work done was fantastic. Our BTO takeover was later than expected, as such the renovation was pushed into the next quarter. TMS brought forward material selections such that work was able to start without delay after takeover.
No doubt there were hiccups along the way during the renovation, however we were able to overcome them with the help of TMS. We noticed some of the workmen even came down on weekend evenings to complete the work, and the quality of materials and workmanship was really top notch. We are satisfied with the outcome of the renovation.

I have searched the website for small unit renovation idea and could not find any to my liking. Managed to narrow down two designer and visit them.
First designer is an architect by profession, his idea is to create space for small unit condo, means knocking down the master bedroom to combine with the living… though did create space but living room is gone, not what I visualise to be my home.
Then I came to The Minimalist Society, met up with Julie the designer and she gave an introduction of their design concept … keep it simple but effective and efficient use of space.
This was exactly what I am looking to fit into my 500sqft condo. Julie attentively listen to my idea and vision of what I want to have on the finish result of my unit. After a length of Q&A without hesitation, I inked the contract with them to start the design work and the rest is history.
The whole duration from design phase to material selection, to construction phase and handover was a breeze. Basically, have the option of active participation in the process or seat back relax and wait for the final result. I participated in the material selection with Julie, handover the keys to her, settle the permit to work and leave the rest to her. I received progressive picture via Whatapps and could see the progress of the work, putting piece by piece together as what I see on the 3-D design. The day when I collect my keys is when I really appreciate the design being materialise seeing the actual built up. The major work is carpentry, I really appreciate their good workmanship and also the painting and electrical works.
Julie designed all custom-built furniture to maximise space, I only bought 2 piece of furniture which is a high chair for dining and a chair for study table.
A 500sqft condo unit that comes with 2 bedrooms, TMS make full use of every corner with custom-built feature and minimise buying loose furniture. The Minimalist Society done it, amazing!
Thank you, Julie and your team.

Awesome work by TMS team Yiling, Keith, Julia and Eunice. Their earnest and forthcoming approach towards the whole renovation process had made it such a breeze for us. Kelvin and I were initially slightly apprehensive when we were searching for ID/contracters . We were glad we finally chose TMS as they were very open and had very sound knowledge on interior design/ carpentry work!
Our initial concept turned out exactly what we envisioned it to be. Our twin boy's bedroom was a major feat as we had quite an ambitious complicated idea on the bunk bed and platform. Yi Ling and Julia fine tuned the ideas and made it possible! Their suggestions on colour coordinates to wood laminates are also always very enpointe! In addition, t
Most importantly, the team is always there when we need them for advice. Just a phone call or message away. Be it furniture shopping or schedules coordination.
Thank you TMS for building our dream home!

The renovation process hinges a lot on trust and the team kept it well throughout the process. Frankly at our stage of life we do have a lot of things to manage and renovation is something we hope to be the last of our worries, while juggling alongside wedding and work commitments. We heard from our friends how the renovation process was a nightmare for them but we were thankful to have the good fortune of chancing upon TMS and got to work with them really well from the start to the end. The end result has been nothing short of stellar and coming back to a comfortable at the end of the day is something we look forward to always. This review might be a little overdue but we really like to thank the team and let you know we appreciate what you did for us.

It was truly a great pleasure to have engaged TMS for the renovation of my new home. I feel that the company has really streamlined their work flow, offering their services in an efficient, friendly and all-round competent manner. As a first-time home owner, I felt reassured and quite impressed along the way with TMS! Yiling, Keith and Julie were on-the-ball, patient, organised and very committed throughout, keeping me updated on the renovation process and addressing my concerns while also providing alternatives and suggestions where needed for my new home. A focussed and fuss-free work ethic from a team I would definitely recommend - thumbs up to all at TMS!

The TMS team was meticulous with their planning, even though the project was relatively small. They managed to complete the renovations well ahead of schedule and were very accommodating with our requirements. We are very pleased with the results, especially my daughter, as the bedroom turned out very well and functional. The rest of the house additions were also completed without any fuss and of great quality. The team was always very responsive and professional. As a matter of fact, this is our 4th house that we have owned, so we are no stranger to the in-and-outs of renovation. We would certainly not hesitate to engage TMS if the opportunity arises again. Thank you TMS!

Thank you so much, Team Minimalist, for having done up our new home the way we envisioned it to be.
We feel that these are the stand-out points that made the entire experience chancing upon and working with Team Minimalist smooth-sailing:
1) We really liked most of the works from the TMS portfolio (Facebook, reviews, website etc.) as opposed to only liking a few photos from other design companies. While this is subjective to our preference for a Minimalist/Scandinavian style, this is testimony to one of many strengths of TMS. As we were renovating a resale HDB and did not wish to do a complete makeover, we thought that Team Minimalist would be best suited to advise on achieving a minimalist design. Well delivered.
2) Communication was prompt, if not very prompt, throughout the entire process, helped by the fact that Team Minimalist comprised of three members. This remains so even after handover.
3) We felt that working with a team of three designers was a great experience in that each had their own expertise. Jointly, Team Minimalist made many practical and aesthetic suggestions (e.g. laundry solution, washer outlet, laminate selection) that we comfortably took up. Whenever a decision was made, it meant a consensus amongst 4 to 5 of us - very assuring!
There are more good things to write about but we’d wrap it up here. Thanks for reading and hope you get off to a good start!

I was recommended by 2 of my friends to Minimalist Society Team who had their homes done up years back. Our first meeting with them impressed us and they showed to us how they could take us from point A to point B through their design methodology which our friends been through. We already like their designs and style when we went to our friends' place and having understood how the process would be like, we naturally went ahead with them with confidence.
Fast forward to today, we have a home that really fits our needs and lifestyle. We love how simple it was to achieve the results we wanted with TMS and not having to go through the usual hassle and horror stories we often hear about doing renovations. We really enjoy coming back to a place we call home proudly. The creativity, commitment, professionalism and grit of the team and their workmen have been nothing short of amazing.

I’m not sure about other customers, but we have a very bad experience with TMS. Eunice had contacted us for a meet up to discuss on our requirements and quotation, she insisted we traveled all the way to Kovan (where their office is not close to any bus stop or mrt) even if we told her that we didn’t drive, I’m 5 months pregnant with a toddler. She said she would like to showcase some workmanship, so we still traveled to her office. When we met her, unlike other ID, she wanted us to tell her how we wanted to design our house even though we have told her about our requirements. We asked some basic questions like how to maximise the storage space, she didn’t even seem to have any idea how to do it and couldn’t even tell us what brand of roller they are using. Then we got to know that she was only one of the designers (she said she was part of a team of 4 designers to design tgt but I strongly believe she doesn’t do the design at all). She was so eager to explain to us on the process of renovation and payment. There was the other 2 designers in the office but couldn’t be bothered though we appeared not happy with the discussion.
It took them more than 2 weeks to come back with the quotation. And it’s way over our Budget by 30% though we had clearly communicated with Eunice on our Budget. We are extremely disappointed with the service! And Glad that we encounter this before committed to their ID service. I’ve met more than 7 ID firms, this is the worst and insincere ID firm I’ve ever met.
We feel if your project size is big, they might be more interested to do your business.

In a word, AWESOME! Our experience with Team Minimalist (Keith, Yiling & Celest) was trouble-free from start to end.
This being our first time, the entire idea of renovating a flat was both alien and daunting. However, their expert advice made the process a breeze.
They were able to take our abstract ideas and conceptualize them into designs that we like. They were equally patient with us requesting for multiple changes but in the end we went with their initial design :-D
The actual renovation works were managed well. We were kept up to date on the progress and the project was completed with many days to spare.
Even after the project was completed, they were still very prompt in replying to our queries and questions.
We won't hesitate to engage Team Minimalist again if we were to move into a new property!
2 thumbs up!!

Thank you for your feedback. We have established the facts that took place as follows:
1) It was about 30 minutes from the originally scheduled time when you came. We tried our best not to reschedule your appointment and informed our workmen that we will be late slightly for our next appointment with them onsite, as you needed more time. Although you informed us an hour early that you will be late, our remaining schedule was already planned for. (Fact-check: We were repeatedly requested by you on several occasions to meet you at your only convenient location or timings. Despite sharing that we only operate ‘by appointment only’ basis with advance notice, you continue to try to make appointments with us at last minute notice, citing that because there are “change of plans on your end”. In fact, we acceded to your request on the day of the appointment with less than half a day’s notice.)
2) Upon entering our showroom, we were greeted with a laundry list of reasons why you are annoyed that we are not meeting at your “preferred” location and that you have huge trouble finding our showroom. (Fact-check: We have clarified why a meeting in our showroom would be beneficial for the homeowner. We also gave you a PDF of a clear and concise map with directions via either public or private transport prior to your visit. It takes around 5-8 minutes only to walk from the nearest bus stop to our showroom. We also highlighted in the same PDF that you might not want to bring young children as they could be left unattended. As for yourself, we guess you could decide for yourself if it was appropriate for you to come by, or just to have your spouse to come along. You have never mentioned to us about your pregnancy and it is not our practice to check with every female visitor if they are pregnant.)
3) You then went on to rave and rant that there was no lift or escalators in the building and that you were forced to take the stairs. (Fact-check: Both the nearest lift or escalator is not more than 20 metres from our showroom entrance. The next nearest is around 80 metres.)
4) Next, you complained that there were no seats for you. (Fact-check: There were two empty seats in the showroom within your sight. Upon hearing that, our designer, Eunice, came over and brought the chair closer to you although it was just within your arms’ reach.)
5) During the appointment, your child was left unattended, ran around and messed up the magazines on the shelves and nearly broke a vase in our showroom while you watched her from a distance. Instead of attempting to help, we see the angst in you when we politely inform your child to refrain from running around for her safety. (Fact-check: Some pages of our magazines were crumpled. Our other 2 designers who were preparing for the next appointment had to be called in for a few occasions to attend to your child.) All the above were captured in our showroom’s CCTV.
6) Unlike most homeowners who have done their homework prior to the meeting, it was apparent that you have yet to seen our portfolio and requested for us to show you a compilation of our kitchen photos. When we share with you that they are all available on our Facebook, you wanted us to run through with you all the kitchen photos despite the fact that time was already short. This initial appointment is not meant for us to do an audition and run through our photo albums with you.
7) In your review here, you mentioned receiving the quote only after 2 weeks. (Fact-check: The quote was sent to you 11 days after the appointment and we shared that it would be approximately 2 weeks. We also highlighted prior to the meet up that there is no obligation on our end to quote if we feel that there is not a good-fit between us.)
8) Lastly, you also stated that you believed that we would have been more sincere if you had more budget. (Fact-check: At least one-third of the homes we did have almost the same budget as you, if not lower, and we are sure they had a good experience from our past reviews. It was never about the budget.)
In spite of the above, we went on to share with you professionally on our design process to you and William. In fact, we must admit that we really enjoyed speaking to William who was friendly and open to suggestions.
Nonetheless, in this review, it appears you still choose to seek out what is lacking or missing in your opinion. We find your need to put others down deeply disturbing. In TMS, we do designs, not drama. Playing the victim to the imaginary circumstances you created will not help. These malicious falsehoods and taking a position of entitlement with manipulative behaviour to get things your way have no place in TMS. We are unable to handle anyone who is contemptuous of others and to blow his top because for what seems to be not exactly what he wants, or even about something that doesn’t seem like much of an issue at all.
We earn our reputation by trying to do hard things well for our true clients. And not by responding to whims and fancies well. We are sorry to learn about your experience but it is our belief that a company that spends too much time in pleasing difficult people will have no time to do the actual difficult things.
We wish you all the best in your renovation journey.
