I'm a (British)) Interior Decorator//Designer, specializing in the renovation of old, and often unattractive, houses. I've been in 'the biz', one way or another, since 1974, when I bought my first house, a 17th Century Tudor cottage, in England. Since that time, I've travelled the world (literally and online ) to tend to the needs of tired and unhappy houses. Sometimes I buy them, beautify them and live in them for a few years ... so far, I've bought, renovated and sold (and all that that entails !) in six different countries. on three different continents. When not working on my own projects, I am often enticed to work on other people's ... where my brief is usually to breathe new life into a crumbling wreck or to give a sour faced facade a sassy new look; which I do (ironically) not by thinking 'outside the box' but rather inside it ! That is to say, my central concern is always that each of the interiors (and gardens ) I create, should reflect the warmth and personality of its inhabitants. .... Okay, Yes ! ... I'll use 'Stark White' and 'Ice Blue', if my client's penchant so dictates but, in general, I'm known, and hired, for my ability to create cozy and inviting spaces, liberally splashed with color ! Currently, and until another state/country beckons, I'm based in California, where, having just completed a restaurant 'makeover', I'm turning my attention to consulting and writing, though am always available for projects in my immediate area (I can be found nestled in a tiny cabin in the San Bernadino mountains) and for remote consultations, via Skype and email.
