Previously, before downsizing, I had a very large kitchen island with the sink in it. I also had the luxury of 2 dishwashers in the island. I always use my dishwasher (even now in a smaller home) so after every meal, dishes were rinsed and put in to the "clean" dishwasher immediately. Dirty dishes didn't sit or pile up. If you are disciplined about this, go for the sink in your island. When I stood at the sink I faced 4 counter stools where my family often sat. I also faced into the family room, so it was a great spot for me to be part of the conversation or see the TV.

I don't know but the original post was helpful to me! No need to give advice though - I'm sure they already figured out their door color.
