The new kitchen area sits at the rear of the house within an open-plan kitchen, living and dining space. Two main criteria were a fireplace and a large island. The island has become the new gravitational point when family visit or when the couple are entertaining.

Finishes:
Opting for a contrast to their previous classical maple kitchen designed by Neil, the clients opted for a contemporary combination of white glass and basalt stone ceramic-effect cabinets; a smoked mirror splashback and two worktop finishes: Glacier white Corian and hard-wearing grey Silestone

Special features
Extractor: Eve designed a special ceiling unit that houses a Falmec exctractor and then clad the outside of it in white glass to complement the cabinetry. The underside is covered in smoked mirror.
Island: This elongated island contains an induction hob, teppanyaki hob, plenty of workspace and a raised breakfast bar for the sociable family. There is a wine storage unit and large pan drawers in the base, with lights set into the steel plinth to create an atmospheric glow.
Climber cupboards: These touch sensor units feature electronically controlled slats that open and close automatically.
