We modernized this kitchen by painting their ivory cabinets crisp white and replacing the dark counters with a lovely white granite. Their new warm gray island has space for two bar stools. We added a charming banquette and industrial lighting over the island. We removed the heavy looking hood cabinetry and added a modern stainless steel hood and glass tile backsplash which picks up the gray color of the island. We removed the half wall separating the kitchen and family room to create an open functional space which is better for entertaining.
