This or that: Pantry shelves or pull out pantry cabinets?

A big decision every kitchen renovator faces is between traditional shelving and more contemporary pull-out cabinetry. One choice hides everything away but the other is quicker to access. What's your preference?

    Kitchen size would dictate, but I find shelving, provided it is not too deep, is more accessible than sliding units. I also live with people who don't know how to close things.

      Traditional shelves are fine unless there is room and budget for roll out units.

      I'd need 7 of those pull outs to equal my pantry space, and I'd always be pulling the wrong one. Also I need to see everything I have at once to get ideas for meals.
