Need help for curtain color, rug and some designing tips
Comments (1)You have a very difficult room to work with here. For the curtains I would definitely choose something with pattern and a color that will "warm up the space" . I would buy longer panels that would go to atleast the top of the baseboard. I would also add a textured bamboo shade in a warm wood tone behind the curtains. By layering the window treatments you can completely hide the window when you don't want to see it without having to mess with the curtains. If you are going to keep all of the furnishings that you have in the room, I would defintely rearrange them. I would try to wall-mount the TV on the wall where the white sofa is now.You could place it on a hinged bracket which would allow you to swing it out for viewing and then push back out of the way when not in use. If cou cannot wall mount it, I still think that I would relocate it here. I would place the white sofa in front of the window (with it's lovely new blinds and curtains) which would supply a better "backdrop" for it than the white wall which it is now blending into. If you could, it would actually be a good idea to lose the white couch altogether, leave the black sofa where it is, and place a low bench or a pair of ottomans facing the black couch thus creating a conversation group while still being able to see over them when watching TV. I would define the seating group with a plush area rug with plenty of warm color that will compliment your new curtains while warming up the white floors. In fact, since the rug is probably going to be the most expensive item I would pick it out first and let it set the color palette for you....See MoreOdd windows: Curtains or blinds?
Comments (7)I would run honeycomb blinds (blackout or not), one running the whole distance to the edge of the other window, then run the short one so it runs into the other blind making a butt joint. this seems to me to be light tight and pleasing to the eye....See MoreDesign solutions for a small odd shaped bedroom
Comments (2)Wow lots of windows. That is good and I love the bay window in the room. Floor looks beautiful as well. Is there a solid wall that the bed can go on, like on the wall to the left of the picture? Also I would staple backout to the window with the roman shade and then place a highboy, armoire or large peice of furniture in front that would cover the whole window and no one from the inside will know. You do put a roller blind inside the window pulled down so no one from the outside will know either. This will give you storage and make the room more functional. I would then place a desk in the bay for a great place to sit and write or a comfortable chair with table and lamps to read. Please post pictures of all sides of the room as that would be helpful with suggestions....See MoreWindow treatment
Comments (3)I would use a white canvas roman shade on the window with an outside mount and mount it exactly the same height as the top of the fabric of the shower curtain. Use the same fabric on the shower curtain and do contrasting banding along the bottom of the roman shade and across the middle of the shower curtain at the same height. You can add other colors of banding from that height down to the bottom of the curtain. You can buy sunbrella acrylic fabric in extra wide panels so you don't have seams on the shower curtain. I did one in a cabin that looked like an indian trading blanket. It was fabulous....See MoreValentyna Zilinskiy
