Mirror - mantel HELP!

I recently took my mirror down from my mantle because it was way too small. We are completely stuck and need help (with specific examples) on what we could put on there --- what kind of mirror? As you can see, it's a pretty dark room with low ceilings. There isn't a ton of space between mantle and ceiling.

Looking to spend around $120 or less.

Try a triangular architectural piece. Doesn't even have to be a mirror. Or a sunburst might work.

You can purchase a wall mirror at a home improvement store paint the frame and install it horizontally.

Hi Rubypumps. Unfortunately you have made the common mistake of mixing undertones. I see this a lot as a colour consultant. Mistakes with your hard finishes are the worst kind because they are very costly to change. Right now your walls have a pink undertone and your walls behind the tub and counter are clearly blue grey. Since blue is complementary to pink, it brings out the pink in the tile even more and the clean blue makes the tile look dirty. It may be hard for you to see this, but this is what's happening and this is probably why you don't like your bathroom. Since you chose such a busy mosaic, it has become the boss (and focal point) of the room and I would now keep your other finishes as simple as possible. If you can, down the road, change the beige tile. Because unfortunately, there is no magic colour combination that will make it disappear. Working with what you have, I would most likely go with a more neutral cabinet like Uniboard G21 Viva Walnut. It will help warm up the space. Black is too stark for this bathroom.

I take it this isn't your bathroom. The glass could be handmade lead light which means bespoke by someone who makes lead light windows or it could be a transfer applied to a plain glass window. Check on ebay or online sticker/transfer stores for similar. I've never seen a piece like that in Australia so I'm thinking this might be an American antique. It's not normal to put an expensive antique piece in a bathroom and if you did it would be best in a bathroom that only has minimal use. And you would want to have a lot of good exhaust extraction to get rid of moisture. If you picked up one of those repro Indonesian mahogany pieces you would be spending a lot less money and might regard the piece as expendable. You can buy wood hardening sprays that resist moisture from the hardware store and spray the carcass (all the unstained pieces inside) with this stuff to resist moisture. You'd still need a good exhaust system however and keep the room well aired.

Hi yoyo188, that's a very detailed plan! Looks fine with me, except I have a concern regarding the dining area. (The following done with Houzz Sketch function!) Just wondering if some of the guests at the dining table might potentially be facing the shoe rack? Thank you! I love the frames but the ceiling is pretty low, so not sure that will work.

I love the stacked frames, too, and really believe you could find some to work in that space.

Something to consider about the mirror......what will it reflect if you put it on the mantle? Is it worthy of being reflected? If not, keep looking for art the right size and by all means, stack them.

Perhaps look for the largest frame that fits well and then add another one size smaller. If you could then find a few complimentary items for the mantle to complete the look.

i can't fond pictures, but i would go for 3 small mirrors (kinda similar to triptych canvas)

Use four small mirrors as in Maureen's global chic photo but add two extras to the ceiling.
