Non-retractable pendant light - would it be too low?

I bought a pendant light similar to the one attached in the link below. we realise that the 2 rods holding the light are not retractable so i can't shorten the length of the light. It is going to be used in our dining room above the dining table, which is infront of our island countertop. Right now, it will be about 5'2" from the floor, if attached to the false ceiling. (note: the false ceiling is a thin one, 4" from actual ceiling). Would this height be too low for a pendant light? any ideas how I can shorten the length? or if there is a way to go through the false ceiling to attach it to the actual ceiling - my contractor says that quite a large hole will need to be cut through the false ceiling to do that. so i'm in a fix. please. help! :( https://www.houzz.com/s/u=aHR0cDovL3d3dy5ob3V6ei5jb20vcGhvdG9zLzE0NjAzNTAwL0ZvdXItTGlnaHRzLVJlY3RhbmdsZS1NZXRhbC1QZW5kYW50LUxpZ2h0aW5nLWluZHVzdHJpYWwtY2VpbGluZy1saWdodGluZw/m=8/t=77

5'2" is 62 inches, and our guide to lighting sizing ( http://bit.ly/1cuh1Fj) suggests that 30 to 36 inches above the tabletop (not the floor, however) is a good height if you have 8-foot ceilings. So, depending on the height of your table, everything might be okay!

My table will be about 29" tall so that will give me an allowance of about 32" to the light. I guess that would be alright? This is such a relief! Thank you.
