Is it true that once a fridge has been moved you should not use it for 24 hours?

And if so, why?

    I think that's only true if you have laid it down. Something to do with letting the refrigerant settle before operating the motor.

    Yes, only if it's laid over for any period of time. You just need to leave it off for an hour or two when you stand it back up to let the oil drain back into the compressor.
