I am redoing my bathroom and I have received wonderful ideas from looking at the Houzz web site! Thank you, Houzz. I would love to order a piece of Live Edge Wood Slab for my bathroom counter, and insert a sink. Is this a DYI project, or will I need to take it to a specialist? Also, anyone have suggestions on a reputable company I can order the wood slab from and also a sink ? I'm leary of ordering online! I live in So. Fla., but not thinking it will be close to me! Thanks.

Ask at your local lumber supply store (not big box) or at a cabinet maker. It may or may not be a DIY project, depending upon your level of expertise. Due to fit and plumbing, consider it an "expert" level project.

Contact Horton Custom Furniture in Houston. Lots of slabs there! The owner sells (and builds) pieces using the most beautiful redwoods and live edge pieces I have EVER seen! He also offers many different types woods. I remember seeing sycamore & sycamore burl, black walnut, juniper, and redwood burl among a few. I loved the prices and the shipping was prompt. This impressive chair piece was in a work of progress at the time but I couldn't resist snapping a shot anyway

At Eutree, we produce live edge wood slabs up to 67" wide. Our products are Forest Free. We work with tree service companies to salvage logs that have come down for some reason other than lumber and would otherwise be turned to mulch or end up in a landfill. All slabs are milled, kiln dried, and surfaced in house.
