Stanek vs Okna Casement Windows?

I am planning to replace large number of casement windows (Greater Philadelphia Area) with vinyl full frame replacement windows. Got bids from Stanek (double pane, 1 1/8", low E, Argon, Great Day Improvements) and Universal Windows (double pane, 7/8", low E, Argon, Alside). After reading reviews, I decided to check on Okna before making a decision. How's the quality of Stanek compared to Okna casement windows?

    As someone that sells and installs windows of every material and has the opportunity to view and inspect existing windows at their life expectancy on a regular basis, I would have to say that there is no basis to say that either material is unequivocally superior. Wood windows have a rich look and feel that cannot be matched by vinyl or other synthetic materials, but today's fast growth pine products are "not your father's wood windows". Vinyl windows are a mixed bag as there many low quality, "price point" products on the market. That said, the better products offer some of the highest performance both thermally and structurally, and are most certainly built to last. Id post over in the window forum for some additional feedback.

    On product, the okna is very good, and the Stanek is not bad either. The turn off for me with the Stanek product is that in 2013 when Great Day bought them, they dissolved all warranty coverage. Essentially if your Stanek windows are more than a couple years old, you have no warranty if my understanding is correct.

      It is wooden frame double pane casement windows.

      I don't know anything about the specific brands you mentioned, but wood windows are superior to vinyl, especially for casement windows. Is there a problem with your windows? If so, they can be repaired. You can't repair vinyl and vinyl is only meant to last a few years. Sorry for not answering your question, but the vinyl window industry does a good job of convincing people that vinyl is the best when it is actually the worst.

      Stanek Vinyl Windows, Corp. ceased operations in December
      2012. Great Day Improvements is neither related to nor the successor of Stanek
      Vinyl Windows, Corp. and has no obligations under any warranties that Stanek
      Vinyl Windows, Corp. may have offered customers who purchased from it.

      However, Great Day
      Improvements has recognized the challenges the loss of warranty benefits has
      caused customers who purchased Stanek® brand windows from Stanek Vinyl Windows
      Corp.

      As a gesture of good will, beginning September 16, 2015, Great
      Day Improvements is       offering a new limited lifetime
      manufacturer’s warranty to previous customers of Stanek Vinyl Windows Corp.       who
      1) bought Stanek® brand products that were manufactured, sold and installed in
      the original customer’s residence by Stanek Vinyl Windows, Corp; and 2) whose
      residence is located within Great Day Improvements, LLC’s current serviceable
      geographic markets.

      What this
      means to you is that parts for your Stanek® brand windows that are defective
      will now be covered under the new manufacturer’s warranty. Great Day
      Improvements current labor warranty is two (2) years so there will be a service
      charge to replace defective parts, but the parts themselves, in most cases, will
      be covered - which is the majority of the cost.
