I'm living in tropical county where it is +32 C all year round. Does the glass able to insulate the heat to minimize greenhouse effect?

    Hi Stephen,

The 'Greenhouse effect' you are referring to is what we call Solar Gain. This is where short wave radiation from the sun penetrates through glass but when this radiation heats up internal surfaces they emit long wave radiation that cannot travel through glass, therefore gets trapped within the space, causing overheating from Solar Gain.

Easiest way to stop or reduce this is to reduce the amount of solar radiation that can penetrate through the glass. There are many ways to do this:

    1. Use a Solar Control Coating on the glass. This is a coating applied to the internal face of the external pane of glass and reduces the amount solar radiation that can penetrate the glass whilst maintaining as much clarity to the glass as possible. https://www.iqglassuk.com/h/products/solar-control-coatings/1187/

    2. ElectroChromic Glass allows you to change the light transmission and level of solar penetration through the glass whenever required, creating a clear or tinted glass appearance for controllable shading through the glass itself. https://www.iqglassuk.com/h/products/electrochromic-glass/692/

    3. Umbris External Louvres. Automated aluminium louvres that can be installed externally to allow you to control the amount of solar radiation that hits a glass face. Fully bespoke for a unique design. https://www.iqglassuk.com/h/products/umbris-patio-louvre-roofs/1277/

What solution is most suitable for you will depend entirely on your project. IQ Can help advise for the most feasible solution.
