so how does the whole unit work above the fireplace? I take it it has the tv behind but there are no pictures that show how it opens??

    Here is a solution using a mirror that hides the TV when it's off. No raising or lowering any "covers". http://www.houzz.com/projects/1444265/manhattan-projects
