Rule of thumb for selecting cabinet/drawer pulls

I'm selecting cabinet/drawer pulls for my new kitchen and with many large drawers I am wondering if there is a standard rule of thumb for size of pull to size of drawer (or weight). I will be putting lots of heavy pots and pans in some of these drawers.

I recommend drawer pulls that are about 1/3 the width of the drawer.

IT really depends. If you find a piece of hardware that you really love - But you think might be to small, you can always do 2 on each draw. As a general rule for us, if we have a client that likes the smaller hardware anything over 27" base get 2 pieces of hardware. Hope that gives you a different idea.
