    Thanks for your kind comment. Our firm, Rogers + Labarthe Architects, designed the screen porch as an outdoor room, integral to this new Texas country house.

    Screen porches have been an important vernacular element of Texas houses from the time before the invention of air conditioning, and have had a renaissance in the past two decades. Most Texans enjoy a climate that allows sitting and dining outside all year long. Screen porches facilitate the opportunity for that experience, free from biting insects.
