What color for tile?

Im unsatisfied with my kitchen floor. my living room's hardwood is a medium brown color hardwood. I would like to paint my kitchen cabinets white and the island a grey tone. What color should I tile my kitchen? I'm feeling toy inadequate when it comes to color coordinating

My current cabinets are an ivory yellow color which I can't bare to look at. Do I just have the wrong color kitchen tile, is that why my kitchen cabinet colors seem so unsightly?

It's definitely your cabinets. They need to be painted pretty much any colour that isn't yellowish.

Here's your kitchen cabinets desaturated to greyscale (ie all the yellow taken out of the cream):

I think there's not much wrong with your tiles, but the colour of the cabinets doesn't work with it. Find the right colour for the cabinets and the tile will be fine.

Here are some Benjamin Moore colors that look close to some of the tones in the tiles: shaker beige, muslin, bone white, Richmond bisque. It's difficult to be sure as monitor colors may be different than actual colors.

Marble are non-porous thus it would cause etching and corrosion. Besides that, marble are high maintenance materials. Marble requires proper care and maintenance. Acid should never be used on marble as it shall loose its shine. Marble should be regularly polished over a period of time to give it a new look. If proper precautions are not taken the marble becomes yellowish in colour. Italian marble is usually very soft and prone to cracks. Proper resins have to be used to make the surface strong and solid and avoid further cracks. Proper sealants should be used in marble flooring as the marble is highly porous and prone to staining. It absorbs stains very quickly especially kitchen stains hence are not appropriate for kitchen counter tops. Quartz would be a better choice as quartz are non porous. look at Marmoleum for your floors-unless you like the white tile? Marmoleum is a natural cork product, very giving to live with (easy on your bones and dishes : ), and they have various natural pigments in each colorway-so you could find one that has both light and dark brown and yellow or blue or gray in it-

I like the idea of changing the cabinet color, it's definitely less work than ripping up the floor

You also may want to consider a different finish for the island than the cabinets (see attached). That helps make the space more dynamic.

Another quick fix is to finish the back wall behind / above the counter with tile or a laminate (be careful around the stove). Building a wood soffit above the cabinets to the ceiling with crown molding may help this kitchen design feel more finished. You can see some more examples here: www.leaparchitecture.com

The tile looks bad with what ever color cabinets you have. They look like they have a gloss finish.? If so they HAVE to go. Paint the cabinets and change the tile.

Also install a backsplash to finish the kitchen. Don't tile on the side walls. Tile only under the cabinets.

A great solution would be to either paint the cabinets to a medium/dark color, or change up the flooring to something with warmer tones within. The cool white flooring against the yellowy cream is too "off".
