We are building a grey huf haus in conserrvation area uk . Rules state 0.6 wall and railings for pedestrian safety. Thus will mean 21ft of unsightly old fashioned railings and look awful . The rest of the perimiter is fenced . . Very quiet area with hardly any pedestrian or traffic

I'm pretty sure that that only applies if it's next to the Highway. If you come in say 1 metre and put some low hedging in front so that you can see your beautiful railings then the rule changes to requiring permission for over 2 metres. Check out the planning portal. We moved our gates in by around 3 metres to create a small driveway in front of the main drive, for quick parking ( in and out, not stopping for long ) and our gates are higher than 1 metre. Hi Bolanndd, Thank you for posting this message. We have a huge amount of experience in this area. If you would like to email in to us at info@portcullis-gates.co.uk we should be able to give you some more specific advice once we know what area you are in and what design you would like. There are often work around's so don't give up on what you really want until it's been thoroughly investigated.

Best of Luck with your Huf House. It sounds very exciting!
