driveway/gates
We want some greenery too, along with maybe some cobbles / gravel for parking. Any ideas for designs or other suggestions?
We also need gates - ideally double sliding metal - any idea of anywhere that may do these?
Thanks!

7 years agoI wouldn't go for gravel, you have no idea what a pain it is until you've tried it. We had some down for a couple of years until we changed it for stone. It sticks in shoes, car tyres and can end up all over the pavement unless contained well. Try a grey tone that won't compete with the red brick of the house. Here's a couple we've done.
As for gates try any of these:-Appy Dusad
Original Author7 years agoThanks - would you not recommend gravel even if we go for that hexagonal mesh that is meant to keep it flat and more maintenance free?
Re gates, any idea if any of those companies, or anyone else, does ones that will span a 6m opening, but slide to one side which only has a wall of 4m (ie the gate is in two parts and one slides behind the other, then both behind the wall)?

7 years agoHi Appy, we are a bespoke metal working company based in Kent. We have made and installed many gates to suit site specific locations. If you could let me have a few more details of your requirements, I would be more than happy to give you a guideline price or any advice. Regards Leigh

7 years agoLook at resin bound stone, looks like gravel, permeable so improves drainage, doesn't move and weed free...
Here's one supplier but there are others.

7 years agoHi Appy Dusad,
We would love to help you with your gates! We've huge experience in this area and I'm sure we will be able to help you.
One thing to bear in mind is that if you would like your gates automated we might need to run cables, or put loops under your drive way. Similarly if you would like a light at the entrance to your property it would might need cabling. This would have to go underneath what ever landscaping you put in place. We would be very happy to work with what ever landscapers you choose to co-ordinate this.
Please do get in contact at info@portcullis-gates.co.uk or take a look at our website. We can work with you to create almost any design but our gate builder app is a good place to start.
