Need help redecorating master bedroom
This is the master bedroom in our Victorian terrace. Excuse mess - builders have been through the house patching all our cracks. It's time for the yellow to go. I'd like to do white walls like the rest of the house but a deep blue feature wall over the fireplace to balance the abstract painting which I'm thinking of moving to opposite wall above the bed (bed can't be moved, it's too big to go anywhere else). Plus curtains to soften all the hard surfaces. Not sure what colour to go with to tie in with new blue/white colour scheme I'm thinking of. Midnight blue would be too dark, I think? White? A grey silver colour? I'm thinking of using silver as an accent elsewhere, say bed linen. Or another colour to tie in with the artwork? Help please! Comments (1)Is this actually a 1,260 square foot house or apartment? I would suggest you turn Bedroom 2 into a large master bath attached to the master bedroom. Then, the two small hall bathrooms could be turned into one larger bathroom to serve guests and the person who uses Bedroom 3. If the bathroom fixtures are in good shape, you could use them over to save money and rely on paint and colorful accessories to make the two new bathrooms attractive. If you still want a third bedroom, I suggest you turn the study into a third bedroom. If you could take out the storage closet between the kitchen and the one entry door, this area in the lower right-hand corner of the floor plan could be the dining area, and the living/dining room could serve as one large living room....See Moreremodeling of the master bathroom
Comments (7)Master bedroom with the bathroom door closed. The Chinese wedding cabinet will move to another room. Now with the door opened and a wider view of the bedroom. Getting closer. The sink is protruding quite a lot in the room. I imagine one rectangular slate that is going from the door opening to the column. A view from the other side. The bath tub with the door closed. The same with the door opened, blocking the access to the tub. A view showing the glass that forms part of the corner of the room. I an thinking of hacking the glass area and the portion of the wall between the glass and the door leading to the bathroom, leaving the bottom part to prevent water from going to the bedroom. To close the space, I am thinking of folding nyato panels similar to the cabinet's doors for a unified look perhaps with some areas in stained glass for a Peranakan accent....See MoreSpace Planning Help-Advice Seek

Master’s with walk-in closet, connected bath with added door (for sharing). kept store at end, open kitchen, Living rm ok to fit a sofa with tv/media cabinet. For dining, I’m seeing to combine your work and dining table. get another similar table to combine with your 1.7 table. (or if budget allows get a long table 1 piece.) dining side you put benches and work side get a high chair. this setting becomes the main feature of your house( my idea only not a rule) the bookshelves be on 1 side and can be longer as needed. hope this brings you more ideas for your new home. cheers! arielc...See More

Plus curtains to soften all the hard surfaces. Not sure what colour to go with to tie in with new blue/white colour scheme I'm thinking of. Midnight blue would be too dark, I think? White? A grey silver colour? I'm thinking of using silver as an accent elsewhere, say bed linen. Or another colour to tie in with the artwork? Help please - thank you!

These could work really well to finish off the look of your master with some big deep blue shams...that is, if you´re still working on the project!

7 years agoThanks everyone who offered advice. I've attached 2 pics of the almost finished project. Can't show the bed as the picture isn't up yet - my partner went to clean some mildew off the ceiling, didn't secure the A frame ladder and only wearing thongs almost severed his big toe when it collapsed underneath him. So a warning to all! Please don't get up ladders that have not been locked or wear unsafe footwear. The mirror and rug were from Gumtree and I made the curtains myself (thank you Spotlight for a sale on curtain fabric). We're very happy with the results (apart from the hospital visit involved). Statement light fitting also needed at some point.
