    Hi Kelly,

    Believe it or not, it is rebar, normally used in concrete. You should be able to find if at your local lowes, Home Depot, Mernards, or any building supply yard. In places it was slightly rusted, which I thought was perfect, we then coated it with a clear urethane.

    What size rebar did you use, and what size wood rails did you use? We are considering using #8 rebar that is 1” diameter, and using 3” x 5” rails. Being that rebar has an extruded rib around it did you have to fill in your holes with something for a tighter fit around the rebar?
