What is the countertop was used in this photo, I love the color. I am thinking about doing my perimeter a solid and my island a standout piece.

    This is a solid colorway gray polished quartz with smooth visual texture. I'm finding out the exact one for you but I can tell you that many quartz lines carry this sort of thing: LG Viaterra, Silestone, One Quartz, Color Quartz, Pental Quartz, Ceasarstone and others. Visit a any slab fabricator showroom in your area and you'll see a number of these product lines.
