furniture for a small bedroom

the bedroom adequately fits a full size bed, two small night tables and a chair but I need a dresser/shelving unit that is no more then 14" in depth as there is no space left between the bed and the wall. I am looking for something that is open so that the room doesn't appear restricted in flow. the max width it can be is 40" to 60", height doesn't matter. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

When pressed with these shallow dimensions I typically go for custom made. However, I don't know if you want to go that route. When on a budget I have found great "shallow depth pieces" at World Market, Pier One and Target. Good luck with your project. Here is one more resource you might have luck with click here

Just wondering what is the current wall color? Looks lavender. I'm not a fan of accent walls in a bedroom. To me a bedroom should be relaxing and varying wall colors seem stimulating by their very nature (think they're great in other rooms though). But if you want to do one, I would do as you suggested, the wall where your headboard is located. Figure out what you want to keep (sounds like the headboard and the red chair are definitely staying), then work around that. I think cool greys are very pretty and a wonderful neutral that work would work well with your headboard and chair. Then you could bring in the other colors you like through bedding and artwork. If storage is an issue, can you get some bins on wheels for beneath your bed? Also can you consolidate all those smaller tables and get one larger table/storage piece in its place? I would check out IKEA if it's in your budget. Also given the size of your bedroom, if possible I would go with simple curtains that are the same color as your walls. Good luck!

Wow lots of windows. That is good and I love the bay window in the room. Floor looks beautiful as well. Is there a solid wall that the bed can go on, like on the wall to the left of the picture? Also I would staple backout to the window with the roman shade and then place a highboy, armoire or large peice of furniture in front that would cover the whole window and no one from the inside will know. You do put a roller blind inside the window pulled down so no one from the outside will know either. This will give you storage and make the room more functional. I would then place a desk in the bay for a great place to sit and write or a comfortable chair with table and lamps to read. Please post pictures of all sides of the room as that would be helpful with suggestions.

put the tv and console within the recessed area, and center the furniture there. add an area rug. and curtains that go floor to ceiling over the windows. im not sure what is concerning you there. if you plan to renovate just dry wall over the recessed area.
