We voted for contemporary, but we love the uniqueness of the lighting in the traditional kitchen!

We're a vote for contemporary, its what we specialise in. But we do think the lighting is very funky in the traditional photos and would look amazing in a contemporary kitchen also.

I voted for contemporary I am a bit OCD sometimes and I don't like too much clutter in a kitchen. With a contemporary style I feel its easier to clean and keep clutter free.

I found contemporary kitchens easier to maintain. I also get to express better in it than with a traddy kitchen. Maybe because I'm not one for intricate details? :/

This is really in tune with contemporary design and minimalism as well as block colours, whilst the traditional design just looks so extravagant! The curves, the colours, the whole setting feels like its alive and bulging at the seams!

I do agree with Opus Bathrooms. Traditional Kitchens really do look far more "homey" than most contemporary kitchens, especially ones with modern designs where everything is plain sheet aluminum. But then, we also have contemporary kitchens which look very much alive with character too! Take this one for example from BUILD:

It may not be as character heavy as a traddy kitchen like the one shown above in the poll, but it's definitely got enough character that it's not too overbearing.

Or even this from Sun West Custom:

But I have to admit to one thing which I'd be remiss not to admit; a traddy kitchen bathed in royal blue with white furniture melts me into submission anytime.

I’m being a bit cheeky here, but I didn’t like either of the ones in the pictures. The contemporary one looked a bit dated to me, and the traditional looked over fussy. My favourite style is modern country - lovely pastel shades with lots of wood and rustic brick walls. Sorry!

@forzaitalia Then you'd prolly love my mom's kitchen then! :D I'll be sure to show them to you and see if you're happy with it after the holidays.

With the greatest of respect they both look horrible and dated to me, and I'm not some young hipster type. I'm 50. The modern one looks dark and soulless, the traditional one is frou frou and American looking. Here's my inspiration kitchen, the chandelier I've just bought and the room I'm renovating/turning into a kitchen. My version will be more practical than the one that inspired me as it'll do duty as a dining room too, by having a kitchen table in the middle. I dont get the island thing at all.

I agree with forzaitalia. Neither of the kitchens shown appeal to me.

Whilst I appreciate the clean lines of a contemporary gloss slab style kitchens if done well in the correct setting , I love the homeliness of a traditional shaker style.

Coming onto this post a year late! Yes, I too don't really like either of the kitchens chosen and even prefer the contemporary one! But I'm a trad gal at heart and echo some of the comments above about homeliness and character that it gives...

The traditional kitchen style shown here is beautiful, but this time the contemporary gets my vote! Super clean lines and clutter-less design looks modern and sleek.
