Wrong paint colour! How to fix?

I was aiming for picture on the left with black walls, but got picture on right which is a deep grey pulling navy and plum. It feels like it’s competing with the dark cabinetry :(. Should I go light? Or try another black? There is a picture of the other massive wall painted that I don’t like either. TY :)

Comments (20)work out the wall space you want to cover, measure this on the floor. then start laying out our design within the space on the floor to create your design. There has to be lines running through the collage so there is a method to the madness- we don't want a messy looking arrangement, there must be a flow. You can line up the matts with outside edge of other frames etc. Layout all of your pics on the floor and mix up the frame styles and sizes amongst your layout. Take photos of your layout and then start hanging. My tip is don't start hanging until you have your plan 100% !!! lots of neck stretches too! i recently put together this collage and need a neck massage afterwards ;-)...See Morei am bored with the look of my home!

I would say just a tad more yellow if your husband can bear it, doesn't have to be solid yellow. I'd add something else on the left shelves (I'd move one shelf of photos to the right hand shelving and swap for some books), maybe a ginger jar if you can get an old one. Maybe a patterned throw or cushion for your wooden chair and a small yellow throw for the bench just draped over the corner. Table idea sounds great. Are you happy with it? 6 years agoThank you also for your advice. I definitely feel as though the current colour competes with the cabinetry, and pulls different tones that I’m not a fan of. The light colour in my home is what I would do if I go lighter...?

6 years agoI found a truer black and tried last night. I’m definitely thinking I’ll do the lighter this weekend then. I agree as well that the vanity and wall tiles are not light and airy so the black would be very dark now - I didn’t make that comparison prior. Lol

6 years agoThere is a picture of my large to-be gallery wall above. Does anyone recommend I use the black paint on that? Or leave it the dark grey for now?
