what type of material can you use to protect a wooden splashback like this?
or is it not actually wooden?

    Hi there, the backsplash is actually made of composite resin with laminate finish, so it is 100% waterproofed and heat resistant :) It is also the same material used for the countertop for the kitchen cabinet :)

    Thats great thanks, do you have the brand or product name for it? Im from NZ so will need to look for local suppliers. thanks!
