Do you find that the higher level porch is a safety risk?

Seems like it could be a hazard at night especially when everyone is sauced up.

    How high is the step up to the deck? Imagine carrying a big tray of something and trying to balance it as you take a big step up or down. If the step is too high for comfort, you could add a 12”-15” wide lower step to ease the transition.

    Yes, I would prefer to set down from the door down to the hardscaping. The client wanted the deck though :)
