Kitchen Backsplash - Yay or Nay?

Just got keys to my new house today! Unfortunately the kitchen backsplash looks an absolute nightmare, and I’m considering if I should replace it. Some of my friends think this is unique and adds character to an otherwise boring palette. Keen to know your thoughts! As we are moving out soon and don’t really wanna spend a bomb on renovations, any Budget-friendly / easy ideas on how to revamp this look would be much appreciated! Thanks!
