What size is this weathervane? Did you mount it directly to the roof? Is the finish raw copper that will patina or is the finish a dark bronze? Thank you!

Hello from Penza Bailey Architects. Here is some information to answer your question:

The weathervane is from Annapolis Weathervanes and Cupolas and they are wonderful to work with.

8101 River Crescent Dr Annapolis MD 21401

    Graceful Blue Heron
    1971P or 1971V1

    21”L X 18” H X 2” W

The finish is a natural patina or factory patina finish on this project, but we generally prefer a dark bronze appearance, or a natural patina, which will be dark bronze before eventually turning green. The website illustrates the installation process and details.

Thank you so very much! This is great information! I’m in Ellicott City MD so I love that this is a local company. Is this weathervane mounted directly to the roof? I imagine this will naturally patina over time, which will be awesome.

The weathervane is anchored into the roof structure, but then flashing and roofing membrane over that. Hope that helps. Have a great weekend!
