Any armoire or china cabinet could be adapted to a TV stand/wall. A vintage piece could be painted black and distressed to add some architectural interest as well as hold the TV. In the right configuration, the doors of the armoire or cabinet could stay - others might require removal. A play-with-it DIY project would be fun.

Ah! Interesting way to disguise the "black-hole-in-the-wall" dilemma: paint the whole wall black! It works in this area which is surrounded by colorful books on black shelves and looks fine juxtaposed to the white wall. Dark floors carry the color throughout the room.
