Original idea inspiration: 5" soapstone splash with a top edge piece. Above that is painted V-groove wood paneling. I would have used same cabinet color in our space. Contractors could not agree on how to wrap into window or who would provide. Plus, we have no V-groove on other walls except bookcase and mudroom locker backs.

Full-height stone with ribbed glass cabinet--ours would have to be 3 cm thick, and that's too thick for Waterstone faucet against a wall.
One of my favorite looks--perhaps I should have picked a "less white" cabinet color and more detail on the doors. Features just a glossy tile.
Tile over a taller stone backsplash--I'd do white grout with cabinetry matched tile and likely a shorter splash (if tile is added) .
