See for yourself!
The tree also meets the satisfaction of the resident sausage dog.
2. Parallel lines
Black and white might be a classic colour combination but there’s nothing traditional about this sleek design. Clean lines combine with streamlined surfaces – even the sink is black to harmonise with the benchtops – deliver a highly contemporary look.

3. Quirky appeal
What’s not to love about this kitchen? The dangling wooden spoons and forks steal the show and look as good by day as they do by night, when illuminated from above.

4. Industrial chic
Handsome rather than pretty, this on-trend kitchen capitalises on our love of all things industrial, and delivers style in spades. Timber-look tiles bring the same rustic edge as rough-hewn wood or exposed bricks, without the cleaning headache.

5. Turning the tables
Well, that’s one way of avoiding the inconvenience of table legs getting in your way – suspend the table from the ceiling!

Look, ma … no legs!
6. Cooking fresh
This home has been built to take advantage of the views from every angle. The outlook from the kitchen has been enhanced with the help of greenery. Push-to-open drawers and cabinets make this chef-ready kitchen as easy to use, as it is to look at.

7. Out of the box
This novel kitchen design combines the best of both worlds. The island bench makes it the social hub of the home, but much of the hard work happens out of sight, in a galley-style kitchen extension around the corner.

8. Space saver
When floor space is at a premium, it pays to be innovative. A slide-out table in this kitchen can double as extra countertop space when you need it, or be hidden away when you need more room to move outside of meal times.

10. Colour splash
Bright pendants and colourful urban artwork brings punch and personality to a fresh white kitchen with subtle shades of grey.

11. Rounding the corner
An angled island bench puts the focus on the chef – and why shouldn’t it? The one who does the work deserves to be the centre of attention.

12. Open for business
Apartment living comes with space constraints but that’s no reason to have a kitchen with no character. This compact kitchen adds interest with its textured splashback and a cafe-style bar with sliding glass windows.

The sliding windows are a neat feature, but they also serve a practical purpose – when cooking is underway, gliding out the glass and putting on the exhaust fan prevents cooking smells from permeating through the rest of the apartment.

This is one kitchen/dining area that dares to be different. Taking Scandinavian style all the way, the wall feature brings this home to life in the most delightful of ways. The home owners are nature lovers and embraced the idea of a tree stretching its branches towards the living and kitchen areas to unify the long and narrow layout.
