Mumbai Houzz: Minimalist & Scandinavian Decor Merge in This Home
Warm wooden accents and pastel hues create an understated luxury in this home by The Architecture Company
“We carved out a consciously minimal aesthetic inspired by a Scandinavian palette and vibrantly luxurious concept to meet the homeowners’ requirements for an ideal city home,” says Walimbe.

The living area comprises a deep-green tufted leather sofa and a wooden TV console unit with niches to display artefacts, with a subtle rug anchoring the scheme. Recessed lighting in the high faux ceiling adds depth and dimension to the vertical space.

Tucked away in a corner, the dining nook includes a comfy bench resting against a fluted wall to create a snug booth. Black suede dining chairs from Ek Design offset the rusticity of the wooden hues. A cluster of pendant lamps above the table tie the look together.

Designed by The Architecture Company and built by Ek Design, the dining table was manufactured out of white oak wood and features semi-cylindrical legs. The under-bench cabinet is a clever way to utilise every inch of that precious space.
At the end of the living room is a bar with storage. The fluted wood backdrop gives continuity to the design narrative. A corridor from here leads to the bedrooms and a common bathroom.
“The master bedroom is imagined to be moodier, with its rich wall covering, while continuing the idea of minimalism in the details of its wardrobe,” says Tambawala.
Fabricated side tables lend a personalised touch to the room, as does the recessed panel of wood from which the side tables emerge. A wooden backdrop that defines a space is a theme carried on from the dining and living areas.
Locally sourced green Indian marble takes centre stage in the master bathroom. The bespoke stone washbasin, sanitary fittings, wall sconce and mirror give this space a one-of-a-kind look.

At the end of the passage is the son’s bedroom, which is a bright and functional area with built-in light and custom side table.

Cofounders Rohit Walimbe, Manasvi Bachhav and Kulsum Tambawala of The Architecture Company were asked to design a two-and-half-bedroom city apartment for a nuclear family in Mulund West.
Since the homeowners like to entertain often, accommodating a spacious living and dining area was the mainstay of the design plan. To integrate spaces seamlessly, the designers opted for an open-plan living area and leveraged the high ceilings to their advantage. From inception to handover, the entire project was completed in 120 days.
The main door opens into the living area, with the kitchen on the left and a built-in dining niche on the right as one walks in.
