Chemical Burn Geometric Coffee Table

This one-of-a-kind upcycled coffee table was stripped and re-styled using our sophisticated stencil chemical wood burning technique. In true BURNT style, we designed a funky and modern geometric pattern that was laser cut to fit the coffee table’s top and side surfaces. While the front, back and inner shelf was restyled using the ancient Japanese wood burning technique, Yakisugi. For the top and sides, we cleaned and sanded the wood and then applied a mixture of ammonium chloride, water and food thickener over the stencil. Once dry, the stencil was removed and heat was applied using a heat gun, resulting in the areas coated with the solution to react with the heat and burn the surface of the wood to reveal the pattern. Brass inlays were applied to both sides to add a luxurious feel. Finally, the Yakisugi treated areas were sealed with tung oil and the surface and sides were given a high gloss oil-based finish. We specialise in geometric designs and the result is a ‘printed’ look over the furniture, in the woods natural colours. This technique can be done on both soft and hard wood with varying results. 1200 W x 650 D x 450 H mm
