The homeowners wanted the entire house redesigned with an open concept feel and light flowing through the windows. To give the open concept, we removed a wood burning fireplace and the solid walls leading upstairs. Using Viewrail cable railing we designed an open view letting light in from all the windows and giving the feeling of a larger floorplan. Viewrail’s cable railing posts are available in stainless steel or aluminum and kits hide all tensioning components so there is no worry about protruding hardware. In this application the homeowner chose black posts with a JC Huffman custom made Maple handrail stained dark in Brindle stain. Although difficult to see in the photos, I had the wood ceiling painted white to get away from the “cabin/lodge” look and incorporate a more contemporary, classic, look that was the goal of the remodel.
