Kitchen Remodel & Opening to Garden

The clients wanted to enlarge and update the kitchen, connecting the garden with the "back of the house". In the new design, the expanded kitchen and the original dining room both connect to a small family room opening on the garden. The semi-open plan maintains distinct rooms while blurring the boundaries between formal and informal, borrowing details like beamed ceilings, walnut cabinets, polychrome tile, robust plaster elements and arched openings to enliven the remodeled rooms and create a graceful sequence of distinct spaces.
