Kitchen Remodel With New Pantry
This was a custom kitchen remodeling project where we provided both cabinet refacing and new kitchen cabinets. The cabinets are from the Bridgewood Advantage Collection Line. The new cabinets are Maple done with Benton doors and the stain is Cafe. Crown molding was added along ceiling of all wall cabinets and decorative light molding along the bottom of all wall cabinets.
Homeowner wanted major changes to parts of the kitchen. We did the following:
1. Kitchen originally had a single oven in the tall cabinet. Homeowner purchased a stainless steel double oven, so we reconfigured this cabinet to hold the double oven and added a storage drawer under the unit.
2. There was a blind cabinet in the corner to the left of the sink. In addition, several of the drawers in the three-drawer stack that butted up to the blind corner were falling apart and only extended three quarters of the way. The challenge was to replace the existing blind cabinet and convert the three-drawer stack into a four-drawer stack without taking out the granite countertop. Great care was taken to brace the countertop so it would not break during the conversion work. The new lazy susan was successfully installed as were the four all wood drawers featuring full extension under mount slides with soft close.
3. The Island countertop extended beyond both ends of the cabinets and along the back side, providing room for seating. The problem was no one ever used this seating. Homeowner wanted more storage so we added inverted wall cabinet along the back side of the island and a bookcase shelf to one end. The opposite end was kept open.
4. A desk and wall bookcase covered one wall at the back of the kitchen, however it was never used. So the desk and the bookcase were removed and replaced with a double pantry, custom built to fill the space. Each pantry unit had five adjustable rollouts.
