New York Tradition

This newly constructed home in the heart of the Douglaston Historic District maintains the Arts and Crafts style mandated by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission. Strict design criteria had to be approved by the commission, including the requirement that the house complements the neighboring community—which is heavily composed of homes over 100 years old. Marvin provided all the mahogany windows and doors, allowing for changes in scale that facilitated the stacking of an entire window wall above French doors in the double-high living room. The flexibility of these products helped to make the design vision work, and all the elements came together in a seamless, well-crafted whole.
