The Homestead- Wadsworth Mansion, Geneseo NY
The entry hall in The Homestead is 12 ft wide, 12 ft high and 45ft long. This wallpaper by Bassett & Vollum was originally hung in the 1940's. It covers not only the walls in the entry, but also all the walls leading up the cantilever stairwell, and through the hallways on three floors. The matriarch of the day was a collector and luckily we found rolls of extra paper stored in the attic. With much tenderness, areas of wall paper that had been damaged by water or sun were carefully replaced with brittle old wallpaper to look like new. Matt Wittmeyer Photographer
