Warmth and Wonder in Wayland
A small kitchen/dining room was converted into a large family space by placing the dining table in the under-used living room/music room in front of a beautiful fireplace. We chose to design a built in bench for more informal seating, open the dining room up to the kitchen, and place cabinetry and a bar on a full brick wall that had no cabinets at all. A peninsula became a useful perch for a quiet cup of coffee, or an intimate conversation with the chef, and created hearth storage, too.
